Life By Design Podcast
I read an interesting article this week that I think is a worthy topic of conversation. This conversation we're going to have is one I would love to have with every single parent I know.

It involves guilt as a parent.

Ayn Rand said, and I completely agree, that "The worst guilt to accept is the unearned."

Well, mom and dad - that quote applies directly to you in the sense that you have accepted a bunch of BS guilt from various sources.

The solution to this guilt is (and this is going to get me into all sorts of hot water) to parent your children like running a business.

Read that again if you need to, but let me explain.

The problem facing most parents, at the deepest level, is a lack of purpose and a vision for what you're trying to create. I recognize that can sound harsh (although it's not meant too), but I hope it gets you thinking.

As a parent or as a family, when you have a plan and goals you have targets. If you have targets than you have objectives (action steps) to be focused on and working towards. If you can do this (which is exactly what a business does), the guilt will drop away.

Don't get me wrong, the article is excellent (and I loved the 10 things), but I don't like the underlying theme which is "here is what I wish I did (raising my children) if I could do it again."

What we cover:
  • Why running your family like a business is a good idea
  • How to systematically begin to remove guilt as a parent
